Gardens, the Arts… and tradition
The Himalayan blue poppy is the emblem of the famous Reford Gardens (Jardins de Métis) as well as of our region, la MRC de La Mitis. The Gardens represent an ideal platform on which to unleash the artistic flair of our mural painters – after all they have been enriching our visual heritage, our sense of smell and our history since 1926.
Elsie Reford left our region a valuable legacy. Her great-grandson has made it his life’s work to ensure this garden paradise survives to this day. The Reford gardens strike a chord with everyone who comes to see them.
Over the course of the years, the Reford family have shared their love of plants, and their passion for the region, in the hope of instilling the same values in future generations.
